Projects - Current, Future, and Finalized.
The Coconut Oil Press Project
The coconut oil press project provided a remote community in the Cook
Islands with an increase of coconut oil production that allowed them to
depend less on import of diesel to run their generator, which they could
then run off of the oil they produced. This project also helped to
support their local economy with an increase in the quality of dried
coconut (Copra) that they are now able to export.
The Mesquite Bean Drier
A community in Peru was provided with a modified drier for their mesquite
pods, which allowed them to obtain a faster and more complete drying state
for their pods. This in turn enabled them to grind the pods into quality
flour and is now an export for that community, providing income for the
village.
Guatemala Clinic Power Project
In the mid 1990's, the Mayan communities of Guatemala were being relocated onto
"reservations" on the coast and in the mountains of El Quiche. After research into the potentiality of
hydro-electric power from the nearby stream, Yonose chose to install solar
panels to power the local clinic. Volunteers with Yonose went back a year later
to install the panels, set up the batteries and train community members on how
to maintain the equipment.

Yonose also continues to research projects such as but not limited to the
application of new solar-controlled water systems for more efficient use
of water resources on remote islands, the use of windmills for production
of electric and hydraulic power, as well as the use of solar power and low
voltage electrical systems for household use. The results of our research
are meant to benefit whole communities that ordinarily do not have access
to the kinds of simple technologies that those of us with easy access take
for granted.
We're developing a comprehensive listing of our projects and the procedures to get new projects off the ground!
